The City Has A Soundtrack

This city has a soundtrack; a beat that lives in the rough concrete walls. That soundtrack thumps through all of us, guiding our movements on these hot summer nights. On a rooftop overlooking the city, RenzoLuna is sporting the "Men's Vest and Shirt In Concord," an exciting THE BLUES hunt gift he picked up at CITRUS. It is a beautifully textured one-piece MESH combo including the tie and costs 5L but the quality is wonderful. This is perfect gear for going out on the town to make a little noise. So here is your chance to add something to the sound of the city: perhaps a vicious stab of horns, a cool loop of guitar, or for some of you maybe a little more cowbell. The point is, make that soundtrack your own and play it loud.-----WHC Riler

'Cause Every Little Thing's Gonna Be Alright.

It's already mid-August and I have not made it to the beach this year but Riot and Celise were kind enough to send me a few photos from their last trip as a consolation. The Dog Days Of Summer Hunt gift from HC PREMIUM CREATIONS is something that deserves some special attention. The HCC SeaStar~Be My Summer Love item is a low land impact mesh starfish with 4 texture options. It has an extensive menu of cuddles (both standing and sitting), along with some singles poses as well. Amazingly, it has 190 animations total in it, which is extremely generous, a fabulous bargain for a 1L hunt prize! The MESH shirt Riot is wearing is a prize from my favorite hunt of the month: The Blues hunt from Depraved Nation. The Blues - Tshirt hunt prize from DUCKNIPPLE can be worn in blue, black, red, green or beige using the texture change hud . The texturing is amazing and it comes in regular and wide waist so you can wear it over mesh pants if you wish. It has the look of a favorite soft cotton tee, one that perhaps has been on many adventures with you over the years. I love shirts like this, they just look wonderfully comfortable. The Blues hunt is not a free hunt. It is 5L, but this shirt is really worth picking up. Celise wanted me to point out the MESH bikini she is wearing as well. It is the Barbara Bikini from JAZZITUDE and comes with a texture change hud. In the pictures, she is wearing two different versions, the striped and the flowered. The hud also includes a plain and a polka dot version. This is a thank you gift for members of the Telecom Hub group (FREE GROUP GIFT), and if that's not enough, next to that gift in the store is JAZZITUDE'S own FREE GROUP GIFT, which is the same Barbara Bikini in another four pink textures. In total, it is a great, realistic rigged Mesh bikini in eight textures for FREE. I still missed the beach trip but at least I have these pictures pinned up on my cork board to remind me of my blissful summer beach trips from past years. Now where are my darts?-----WHC Riler

Summer Blockbuster!

Many people don't know this about me, but I wrote a movie. It was actually a great idea: I wrote some car crash scenes and gunfights, mixed in some gratuitous sex and it was ready. What made my screenplay brilliant was I left 40 minutes open for a plot to be added later! That way, when they are about to shoot the movie, the producers and directors can look in the newspaper, plug in the most current events, and BAM!!! Instant movie. My friend, RenzoLuna, is going to star in it though because I want to preserve the integrity of my creative process (and because I hate going on diets). The current FREE GROUP GIFT from LAVAROCK is the perfect action movie wear. It's by the same people who gave out a free leather jacket group gift so good that it inspired me to begin blogging. The Militia Vest & Shirt comes in two mesh pieces: the Tshirt and the vest. This gives you the freedom to mix the items with clothing you already have in inventory, creating extra versatility. The textures are extremely detailed and give it a really rough, masculine look and the quality, as usual with a LAVAROCK gift, is excellent! This one is for the tough guys to go get, but please avoid trampling the not-so-tough guys in the process, we bruise easily.-----WHC Riler

Basic Black? Not A Chance, This Is Exceptional Black!

I have been quite busy lately, trying to make up for the time I was away. You know though, it's only fair if I work hard, I should get to play just as hard. So, tonight I am going out to catch a blues band at my favorite bar. A new guys’ hunt just opened which is quite special, and I wanted to take a moment to tell you about it. The Blues is a gridwide hunt brought to us by the people at Depraved Nation. It is not a free hunt (each prize costs 5L), but there are some very nice gifts involved in it and it is definitely worth a look. A night out on the town is the perfect occasion to show off this hunt prize offered by NERD MONKEY. It consists of The Black Classic Shirt, The Gray Classic Tie and The Gray Classic Vest. All three pieces are mesh and completely separate. The texturing and the stitching on the vest alone blew me away. For 5L not only do you get this nice outfit put together, but you can also combine it with other pieces in your wardrobe to make it an even more exceptional value. The Blues hunt is on until August 31st, check it out.-----WHC Riler

Websurfin' Safari

It is great to be back home! My safari vacation went smoothly but first off, for educational purposes, let me make an important statement. When someone tells you something is "endangered" often they are grossly exaggerating. Lets just say I am no great hunter but at no point did I ever feel in danger at all. The really big elephants are impressive and could pose a real threat to someone, but if you stick with the small ones you can hunt safely. I am kidding of course, I did not kill a baby elephant. I bought it off the back of a truck at the safari camp. Before anyone gets upset, I made sure to ask the driver about the elephant and was assured it was not a wild elephant but it was raised at a "domestical breedery" for use in the "National Economic Treasury Program". I really didn't believe him, so I refused to buy the matching lamps. Sometimes a man just has to take a stand and do the right thing. All of this leads me to the Around The Grid In 80 Days 2 Hunt. This hoodie I am wearing is the Around The World Hoodie hunt prize from SHORT CIRCUIT and only cost 1L. It is perfect for the global traveler in you, is mesh and has the T-shirt with the map texture integrated into it. In the outfit I made for myself below I actually tinted it slightly to darken it, something that is optional and no trouble at all. The pants are a FREE gift from SF DESIGNS, the grey chinos are available for a very limited time at Creations Park. They are actually grey straight out of the box so a little tinting was in order to get it to look great with the hoodie, but grab these while you can, they are FREE, look great and are very versatile. The Elephant Coffee Table & Rug from POTPOURRI DESIGNS are another great gift from the hunt and is 1L. All kidding aside, they look fantastic and are a great pick up if you ever want to have a safari themed room or such. These are all great bargains.-----WHC Riler

(Blogmonkey's note - I intended this blog to help new residents as well as to serve hunters and bargain seekers, so please forgive me for taking a quick moment regarding tinting. Sometimes when you pick things up they are mod, and tinting will be an option. Whenever possible, make a copy of the garment and work on the copy instead of the original. That's actually great advice when making any changes on Second Life, no matter what you are doing. For the hoodie I decided to tint it slightly more beige to cover a tiny bit of white on the bottom of the tee. honestly, it is really only necessary if you are a perfectionist like me. I use the firestorm viewer to access Second Life but other viewers should be similar. First put on the hoodie and notice in the inventory screen when you choose it, it does say no modify. That's fine it can still be tinted. Wearing it, right click on it and choose edit to bring up the edit window. Under the texture tab is a white square, that's because it has not been tinted yet and it's default setting is white. Click the box under the word color and choose your tint, its always best to be as subtle as possible, over tinting does not look very good at all using restraint is best. Please make sure not to choose the full bright or any other option in this tab, that's outside of the scope of this post, perhaps topics for another day. Close the edit window and check your work. The SF Design pants are grey straight out of the box but I thought they would look great with the hoodie. They are mod on the pants layer and are edited normally just like other clothing. I like keeping things simple so I tinted them just enough to look good with the hoodie and adjusted the length and such to fit over my shoes better. I didn't need to bother with the leg prims this time to do what I wanted so I left them out of the finished outfit. That's it really, most times I wear things I don't make changes like I did this time but the outfit looks fantastic and hopefully I am helping to encourage newer residents to think about what they can do with what they get rather then just accept items purely at their face value. Second Life allows you a great deal of control over things if you choose to use it, and it can be a very creative experience in many unexpected ways. Thank you for reading this, see you on the grid.-----WHC Riler
