A Hearty Welcome, Darned Nice To Be Here!

Hello, Menstuff and Scavengers alike! I just began another adventure, this time joining the staff of Menstuff and I wanted to take a moment and introduce myself properly. I am WHC Riler and my background is uncovering freebies & great sale items around the grid and blogging them to share. Actually, my life is like Indiana Jones' but without having to leave the comfort of my chair. I am a ninja when it comes to doing store hunts and I bring to Menstuff my own, rather peculiar, skill set (along with the gold medal I won at the 2003 Slacker Olympics!). The last few years of my SL have been my best, most satisfying ever. Now, I can't wait to bring all of you with me on my upcoming adventures. Get ready, together we are going to have a blast!-----WHC Riler

When The Judge Is Away... (Menstuff 1 Repost)

(Originally posted to Fab Free 6/3/15)

Not many people know that I am a lawyer. Luckily, even fewer people know I am NOT a lawyer! That's how I got chosen for my own layout in "Hot Lawyers Monthly"! Okay, so maybe I feel a little bad about letting them think I am an attorney, but let's face it: if they were real lawyers, they would be able to tell that I wasn't one. So, I am taking my modeling fee all the way to the bank... or McDonald's if there is a line at the bank. I hate lines.

On the First of June, one of the best male hunts of the year began. The Menstuff Hunt features a one-hundred-store lineup and is on all month long. If you are new to doing store hunts, now is the perfect time to give them a try. I can think of a hundred reasons why you should. The hunt is not free. It is technically a 1L hunt, but the organizers allowed stores the option of not charging for their prizes and more than 2/3 of them are FREE! You are looking for an object shaped like a blue T-Shirt, inside of which your prizes await.

For my hot magazine layout, I wore the Menstuff Hunt Prize from SF Design, the Finsbury Outfit. This one-piece Mesh outfit features the shirt, dress pants and suspenders all together in one garment. It really makes looking good very easy when all the pieces are integrated into one item. It makes dressing a snap! You would think that with those items all put together in one prize, the designer might make compromises along the way, but not SF Design. The shirt is well textured and has realistic buttons. The suspenders seem to be in front of the shirt not painted on it. Last but not least, the pants have a classy pinstripe texture. Quality and convenience, it's all there. Oh, and one last thing... it's FREE!

I wanted a little something extra to help sell the "I know about law stuff" look I was going for and the Menstuff hunt prize from X-Sight was just what I needed. The X-Sight Geek Glasses in Charcoal lend an air of studiousness that normally can only be acquired by, well... studying. Trust me, finding a hunt object in a store is a lot easier than actually studying. They make a fine accessory to complete a variety of outfits and are also generously offered to us for FREE.

One of my favorite stores on the grid is Illi. When I heard they were participating in the Menstuff Hunt, I knew that was going to be one of the highlights of the hunt. They did not disappoint me. Their Menstuff Hunt 2015 outfit makes for fantastic beachwear. The Mesh tank top is a style I have never seen before. It hangs loosely and has front pockets like some hoodies I own. It makes for a very interesting variation of a tank top that looks great! The shorts are nicely shaped and highly detailed, right down to the plaid cuffs which are actually held up by a strap and a button. I don't know how often that kind of detail appears in board shorts, but I can tell you it surprised me when I noticed it. The final part of the outfit are the sandals. The ones I am wearing are the classic ones and fit regular avy feet. If you are lucky enough to have Slink feet, The Mesh Project or Aesthetic bodies though, Illi has included versions of them for you in this hunt prize, too! It is an excellent gift and another wonderful FREE gift on the Menstuff hunt.

Male avies always have a problem finding inexpensive hair, and I was very pleased to see that Jaryth's Barber Shop has a very cool hair on the Menstuff hunt. It is the David Mesh Hair and comes with a hud which gives you a choice of five shades of brown. The sides of the head are cut very short and handled with a hairbase. The top is grown out longer and looks just spiky enough to give it a cool, rebellious look. Cool men's hair is a tough find and this one is FREE so it's definitely worth grabbing.

My tattoo is also from the Menstuff hunt. It is the bio mech tattoo from B*FLY Tattoos. It comes in normal and faded ink variations and also has an applier in the gift (if you happen to have a body from The Mesh Project). The design is reminiscent of the kind of artwork H.R. Giger became world renowned for: featuring patterns of what could be bone, muscle and tendons in a beautiful, surrealistic way. I love this style of art and this FREE tat definitely has found a home in my inventory.

The final item on this my first post covering the Menstuff hunt 2015 is the Moonwake necklace from Rebellion. This silver chain is very well detailed, giving it a highly realistic look. The design is definitely masculine, and would look especially great with a street thug kind of look. It is not free, but for only 1L, I absolutely recommend picking it up. Well, that's it everyone, I am gonna settle in for a nice nap on the beach and dream about all the other items I will find on the Menstuff hunt this year. Until next time, see you on the grid! -----WHC Riler

Post-Apocolyptic Dream Date!

Our next guest stays eternally young by prowling the desert wasteland, picking up scrap metal and killing mutants for their fuel credits. He likes long drives in the desert and skinning and cooking rabbits for food. Please give a warm post-apocalyptic welcome to Riot Bayn!!!! Yes ladies, after the nuclear holocaust, after the global war against the undead, even after the mutant uprising that follows, you might still have to date someone. Riot and the remaining horde of mildly-mutated survivors are counting on that. It should come as no surprise to anyone that he already has picked out his clothes for that future event. The rugged-looking MESH vest Riot is wearing is the Menstuff Hunt gift from BROCADE TIGER. It has a fantastic masculine look, and the back is emblazoned with a pair of angel wings, which evoke a vest worn by my favorite character on a great television show. I won't say which one, but a friend once called it a "Soap opera with zombies". I MUTED HER! As worn in the pics, the jacket has been tinted a darker brown, something easily done if needed. I love the look of this vest.

Riot is wearing the Winter Kat Jeans from the Menstuff Hunt gift from NEKOLICIOUS and straight out of the box they are gray but can be tinted as shown here to match other garments. The Winter Kat outfit consists of a bright red MESH holiday sweater, the MESH Winter Kat Jeans (which would be great for most male wardrobes), and a set of animated ears and a tail to complete the neko theme. VESTIGIUM'S Menstuff Hunt prize "Bruises III" contributes the scratches and roughens up Riot's face some, which gives him a very authentic tough-guy look to match his nearly-authentic tough guy attitude. His shirt is a very nicely textured brown long sleeve Henley shirt which is a FREE Christmas Gift from ASHBURY. It looks great whether you choose to wear it alone, or under another item of clothing like a mesh jacket. I own a number of mesh jackets, so an excellent system shirt (layer style clothing) is especially valuable to me. It is available until the end of the month and is a MUST pick up since it can be worn with such versatility.

Riot's ride comes courtesy of SURPLUS MOTORS, and was not free. However, now is the perfect time to mention that both Surplus Motors and KNIGHT PERFORMANCE make fantastic cars, some of which are free group gifts. The level of care and detail in the creation of these cars is evident in the pics. So, even if you can't get tickets to appear on a future episode of Post-Apocalyptic Dream Date, you can look like you belong on the show: rugged, handsome, and able to take care of yourself in a world of unimaginable violence and brutality. You can have that look and still have enough money left over to buy that issue of the National Enquirer you saw at the fuel depot. Oh look! President Kardashian is posing nude again to get the budget through Congress. I always knew she would make a great President.-----WHC Riler

The Poetry Of Winter.

Winter has fallen and flakes of snow drift lazily to the ground in the cold, dense air. Around all of us is the romance of the holidays and the joy of seeing the warm smiles of distant loved ones once again. Memories resurface of cuddling on a park bench with a lover as the snow falls, kissing their nose and sharing an intimate laugh. The joyful noise of the young fill the days with excitement and wonder. Winter can be a romantic time of the year, and within it there is poetry around all of us. Sadly, it is completely ruined by the lousy weather. The best thing about winter is sending my friends to miserably cold places to get even for trips to the beach I didn't get invited to. Riot Bayn can tell you all about that when his teeth stop chattering. The Megastuff 2 Hunt is going on right now. It consists of the Menstuff, Womenstuff and Homestuff hunts, all running at the same time. They are on until January 2nd and are generally excellent hunts. Riot is wearing the Stephen Steel Grey Jacket - the Menstuff Hunt gift from JFM (Jana's For Men). The garment is a well made, warm looking MESH jacket perfect for these winter months and JFM was very thoughtful in including a FITMESH version in the package as well. It is a well done garment and deserves some extra love from us hunters. Riot is also wearing another Menstuff Hunt gift in this post, the prize from HAWKER'S HOUSE. Their gift includes the very nice black turtleneck and chino slacks in black. The sweater is nicely textured and is a system (in layers) garment which makes it fantastic to go under mesh coats and jackets. It is a great thing to have in inventory for that reason alone. If that wasn't enough of a reason to pick up the Hawker's House Menstuff Hunt prize, here is another one: the MESH black chino slacks Riot are wearing is also part of the same gift! The Menstuff hunt is ending soon, January 2nd so, if you want in on these items, you will have to run there. The hunt objects are small blue T-shirts and cost 1L each. At Hawker's House you are only looking for one hunt item, both the chinos and turtleneck are in that box! Lastly, since the hunt is nearly over as I post this I wanted to post the Menstuff blog where you can find pictures of other gifts offered. It is fairly well covered already so I am just hitting the highlights that I feel need extra attention. Until we cross paths again my friends, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Festive Festivus to all of you. I hope you find a great deal of joy and love over the holidays wherever they take you. -----WHC Riler
