A Class Act!

I was sitting around the coffee shop as I often do, waiting for inspiration to strike me. I would do it at home, but you know that look you get when you think of something smart? Well, I figure if I am ever gonna get that look, I want to make sure someone sees me wearing it! So I was sitting in the coffee shop and suddenly like BOOM! There it was..."The Riler University Of Art!" For only five lindens a class, you can learn from the Masters. (I am only gonna hire people with the last name of Masters to instruct students.) For that small class fee, you will have a unique opportunity to be taught by the best people willing to work for me. You will learn how to use words like "create" which instantly increases the value of a piece of work over one that you "did"! Art can be a very messy and complex area of study, so what better way to learn about it than from people who don't deal in complexities? At The Riler University Of Art, we make art! Or actually, we make you make art. Either way, there is art and you. That is what we are all about.

Above, you can see me preparing for a class. Of all the jobs I have ever had that I could do in a bathrobe, this is truly the most rewarding! Sadly...the most financially rewarding. The masculine looking black bathrobe I am wearing is a free gift from Gothicatz, their Logo Black Robe. Suitable for making coffee to drink in a sunlit breakfast nook, or perhaps to wear while binge watching The Walking Dead in the flickering light of the living room TV, a good robe can be very versatile indeed! From Farmboy To Pop Icon!

Greetings from the Riler family farm, where we grow all kinds of healthy food that I won't eat. I remember once when I was a young pup and Mom asked me "Why won't you eat fruits and vegetables? There has to be something that we can grow that you’ll eat." Mom stared at me in complete exasperation. That was the day I learned parrots do not grow on trees. Also, I am told if they did, parrot trees would not grow in the Midwest. I have learned a lot about farming since then, most of it from countless hours of playing farmville on facebook.

The most important lesson I learned about farming is: Do not dress like you have just fallen off the turnip truck. (Wait, if you actually did just fall off the turnip truck, you probably are a farmer anyway, so dressing like that is good, too.) My point is, you are going to want to dress the part and the FREE Gingham Hunt Prize from Firelight Creations/MAN STUFF is perfect for that handsome farmhand look. The prize consists of the Leroy mesh shirt in red gingham and the Cole jeans in light blue denim. The shirt is very nicely shaped and, together with the mesh Cole jeans, which I also consider a keeper, this is a very masculine look. I may not be the kind of guy suited for farm work, but in this outfit, I could do commercials for brand name soda pop on TV. I could easily imagine myself drinking an ice cold can of pop, condensation dripping down my muscular chest, as my female co-workers in the office break room gawk in silent appreciation. Casual Friday – here I come! Kidding aside, this outfit looks great, and I could seriously sell a ton of pop in this.

Oh Carami!

In my first life, I am a T-shirt and jeans kind of guy. There are a lot of us out there and this FREE Thank You Gift from Carami is perfect for us. On my avy in varying windlight settings, they appear somewhere between a lavender and light gray, but have some aqua and blue in them, you really should take a look yourself, they are pretty special. It's Worth The Wait .(UPDATE! SEVEN DEADLY SKINS GROUP NOW FREE OCT 31ST ONLY)

I am so excited! It's shaping up to be a fantastic month to be a resident of Second Life. There are free haunted houses and other scary builds, Halloween themed dances and it is an extremely active month for freebie/bargain hunters. Yesterday, I received word that the FREE GROUP GIFTS from HOORENBEEK have changed, so I rushed over to check them out. They have an unusual policy regarding their gifts, but Hoorenbeek is an excellent store and the gifts are fantastic. In order to be eligible for them you must first join their subscribo and wait two weeks before you can pick up them up. It sounds like it's a hassle but since it's a subscribo it won't tie up one of your group slots, and the gifts from them are of high enough quality that it is worth the extra effort. The gifts do not change every month but since they require a waiting period to pick them up, it's understandable that they are kept out longer to give people more time to pick them up. This month's gift is the MESH Montgomery Jacket in gray. It is a perfect jacket for the weather as it turns colder, one that looks as if it will keep you warm during the coldest of days. The details are superb from the realistic lining of the hood to the buttons that could hold the jacket closed. The Montgomery Jacket looks rugged but still maintains a nice civilized look. I should warn you to please read the card included in the gift, it contains a short description of all the included parts and options. That is needed because the options included go beyond merely wearing the jacket open or closed. In the picture I am wearing it open along with the shirt insert and to give it a more complete look I grabbed the Gray Classic Tie from Nerd Monkey. The tie was a hunt gift from a previous hunt blogged in my entry "Basic Black? Not A Chance, This Is Exceptional Black!" and has been extremely useful to me. I also wanted to point out the skin I am wearing. It is the Halloween Hunt gift - Vincent at SEVEN DEADLY SKINS, but it's a group only hunt. The group is 200 lindens to join which sadly makes it outside the scope of this blog, but the owner of Seven Deadly Skins does offer reduced prices to join every so often and I will try to keep track of when that happens to give everyone a heads up. If you already belong to the group, do the hunt, the skin is very nice. If you don't already belong and don't have the money to join, no worries. I will keep my eyes open for future chances for you to join. Izara is very generous with her group gifts and Seven Deadly Skins is a good group to belong to.
